Starboard Foil Freeride Plus Aluminium
The new Freeride Plus is the successor to the very popular Starboard Freeride.
This foil combines speed and ease and fits perfectly between the SuperCruiser and the GT-R Plus. Ideal for those who are just starting out in foiling and want a fast foil with more directional stability.
The Freeride Plus is an easy to use foil that is very reassuring. With its 1100cm2 front wing, you will be in the air very quickly while keeping a good directional stability with its 500 rear stabilizer the Freeride plus is ideal to boost your sessions in light wind. Sensations guaranteed!
Technical characteristics :
The Freeride plus has a longer mast, which measures 85cm in length compared to 75cm for its first version. Equipped with the new 20cm longer fuselage for a total of 95cm, this extra length allows you to take off earlier and have more power and more stability in flight.
The curved wingtips provide increased stability and control in a straight line and also limit cavitation on the tips.
The 95cm Plus fuselage includes the new adjustable rear wing system to extend the range of use of your foil. It will be easy to change the stabilizer angle when the wind changes to sail in comfort.
DESIGNER'S WORD: Tiesda You
"With both wings flying through the water at similar angles of attack, you release more speed, get faster acceleration and more control."
Starboard Foils use unique technology, with the goal of providing a product with uncompromising performance and unwavering reliability.
Starboard Foils aluminum masts offer an excellent stiffness to price ratio. They are less nervous and less stiff than the carbon version.
The aluminum masts of Starboard aluminum masts use a triple I-beam cross section. The whole thing is technically manufacturing technique technique that throws more material around the perimeter of the mast to gain stiffness. The mast of the Starboard foils in aluminum offers a rigidity and performance that surpasses even some carbon masts.
The fuselageismachined from a block of 6061 aluminum. Light and rigid, this type of aluminum is also used in aircraft structures. One of the strong points of 6061aluminium is its resistance to corrosion even when the surface is abraded.
For fuselages with a more square cross-section, aluminium is more suitable. The choice of an aluminium fuselage makes the foils stiffer, easier to control and more stable.
Starboard has designed its own patented fuselage. It allows easy disassembly of the assembly. The four side bolts increase the mounting pressure between the mast and the fuselage, which improves the torsional rigidity.
The G10 and fiberglass wings are quite soft and do not allow as much precise control as with a carbon wing. Since thicker wings would reduce performance, all Starboard wings are thinner and made ofToray prepreg carbon. Stiffer wings give you a stable flight.
All Starboard foils come with top of the line stainless steel Torx hardware.
The Starboard Freeride plus foil is a foil designed for novice and intermediate riders. It will suit very well the intermediate riders who are looking for easy take off, with a remarkable level of performance and interesting top speeds
Advice on settings:
- The recommended rear wing angle is -1.5°.
- Switching to the -2° wedge increases control and speed in strong winds.
- Switching to -1° or 0° increases power in light winds
